American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
The ANSI Federation's primary goal is the enhancement of global competitiveness of U.S. business and the American quality of life by promoting and facilitating voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems and promoting their integrity. The Institute represents the interests of its nearly 1,400 company, organization, government agency, institutional and international members. ANSI does not itself develop American National Standards (ANSs); rather it facilitates development by establishing consensus among qualified groups.

Book Industry Systems Advisory Committee (BISAC)
BISAC, the Book Industry Systems Advisory Committee began as a result of a meeting to promote the use of the ISBN in the publishing industry. It has been the main standards forum of the Book Industry Study Group since 1980, and is responsible for helping to develop and maintain technology and electronic commerce standards for the entire publishing industry.
